The most prominent geological feature of the property is a northeast-trending valley which crosses the full length of the property (Harris 1960) and extends to the south shore of Gagne Lake to the northeast of the property (Harris 1974). The zone appears in air photos as a series of closely spaced lineaments (Harris 1974), and have been interpreted by both J.J. Harris (1960) and F.R. Harris (1974) as a fault or shear zone within the gabbro. Harris (1960) was of the opinion that the fault contains the key ore body and that the veins which had been the focus of the work so far represent offshoots from this body.
The zone widens to approximately 500 metres within the property boundary, and is host to all of the known gold-bearing quartz veins (Harris 1974). Harris (1960) observed that the veins appeared to occur on the scarps along the sides of the zone in cross-faults or fractures, most likely splays off the main shear zone. This deformation zone should be the focus of the next exploration program.
