Styles of Gold Mineralization at Ithingo Lake

  1. Quartz-Feldspar-Biotite Hornblende Pegmatite Veins
  2. Quartz Veins (Weakly Mineralized)
  3. Quartz Veins (Highly Mineralized)
  4. Non-Quartz Vein Related Sulphide Occurrences
  5. Free Gold – in two instances (DDH88-18 and DDH89-26) gold was found to occur as small disseminated grains in hornblende-plagioclase amphibolite with no quartz veins or sulphides being present
  6. Gold in banded iron formations

Further to his general description of rock types, Dr. Craig Leitch, Ph.D., P.Eng, the Senior Petrographer of Vancouver Petrographics stated these important observations about the Ithingo Project [emphasis added]:

“The range of settings for gold mineralization is still amazing and baffling”.

Although several samples were found to contain significant visible gold, both in hand specimen and thin section, many other samples with excellent gold assays have no detectable gold in the sample portions submitted.
